Description

As if St Tropez needs an introduction... it comfortably sits in the world's top 5 glamour destinations. So be sure to apply your St Tropez tanning lotion and don't leave your luxury villa without those designer sunglasses! Famous for its super yachts and sports cars, if you're not in the driving seat, admire the riches from one of the sea view terrace cafes - the perfect spot for people watching!

Amongst the A-Listers and champagne is an abundance of delicious seafood and world class surroundings. Activities a plenty, you will have to factor in relaxation time as the days will fly by with boat tours, polo, tennis, golf, authentic local cuisine and the evenings entertainments.

Having worked up an appetite, many arrive by yacht to dine at La Voile Rouge, a highly reputed beach front restaurant that has earned legendary statuss, serving pricey French cuisine and the finest champagne to the rich and famous since 1968. Another popular hangout is Club 55, which takes its name from the year Roger Vadim filmed "And God Created Women" in St Tropez. This film created two French icons; Brigitte Bardot and the town of St Tropez.

Once you've watched the sun set over a seafood platter, grab a glass of bubbles, slip on your best dress and get amongst the celebrities and elegant guests arriving by air, land and sea to attend the elite private parties.

The best beaches and beach clubs are found along the coastline of Plage de Pampelonne, serving food and drink to your sun lounger. Some are very chic, offering fashion shows on the beach, others are quiet and relaxing with restaurants and cafés directly on the water's edge.

Bouillabaisse Beach, Caneliers Beach and Salins Beach are a few of the 40 on the peninsula. Having topped up your tan, try one of the many activities on offer; windsurfing, sailing and canoeing equipment is available to hire, and an abundance of motorized water sports, such as power boats, jet bikes and water skiing for the adrenaline junkies.

From the beaches, vines climb up the hills to the pretty village of Ramatuelle, where you can sip on the excellent wines produced here. If all the sun, sea and wine has gone to your head, take a stroll through the typical Provençal market, which is usually held Tuesday and Saturday mornings in the Place des Lices, filled with fresh produce and local crafts. Movie stars and local stars get together here, to play a game of boules or sip Pastis under the plane trees.

Visit St Tropez between May and mid June to see the celebration of the religious and festive processions called "Bravades" ("act of defiance"). Originally a procession in honour of a town's patron saint, it is now one of the most famous and colourful Provençal festivals.
