Looking out across the Mediterranean, to the Conillera islands, Can Agneta is a leading example of the new breed of style-leading homes on Ibiza. A favorite of interior design magazines and architectural digests, this traditional Finca has been ambitiously sculpted from the landscape, and transformed into a breath-taking home of art-filled living areas, romantic suites and independent terraces, bordered with lavender, orange and fig trees.
Accommodation is divided between the main house and three separate bedroom areas in the grounds. Each offers independence and privacy, with comfortable king-size beds, high quality linens and bathrooms with features ranging from a one-piece granite tub to an outdoor Balinese shower.
Grounds are a maze of discovery. A help-yourself kitchen garden is filled with peppers and water melon, a platform for yoga positioned to capture the morning rays and scent of the pine trees and a roof terrace has a projector for movies under the stars. A saltwater pool has an adjacent outdoor dining terrace, views to the Mediterranean and a summer kitchen for pool-side drinks.
The villa comes equipped with Sonos and Marantz music system, an immense DVD collection and wireless internet; there is a children's play area with swings and see-saw, and a table tennis table. For older guests the night spots at San Antonio are a short taxi ride away.
As the sun descends the sky begins its celebration of colour. The fire-pit is lit and guests begin to gather. The villa staff light the torches to guide guests to their pre-dinner cocktails on the roof terrace, a precursor to a pool-side dinner party under the stars....
Location
The north west of Ibiza is more rural than the south, and arguably more scenic as a result. Sienna red soil is lined with almond orchards, and white-wash village houses cling like children around church bell towers. Heavily-scented pine forest carpets low-lying hills and the coastline is a series of coves and bays, where sailing boats bob and sway, and impromptu beach restaurants sell catch of the day.
