Verbier is the perfect summer escape, with beautiful alpine scenery, an attractive, modern resort built in a traditional style and an abundance of activities on offer; Verbier is without doubt one of Europe’s best summer alpine retreats.

The village lies in a sunny, south-facing bowl with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Verbier is home to a well-equipped sports centre, with large indoor and outdoor swimming pools, squash and tennis facilities and a professional covered ice rink. There are golf courses galore in the area, unrivalled paragliding, parapenting and endless biking and hiking trails for all abilities. If you are looking for something a little less energetic then why not spend an afternoon in the spa or make the most of the shops, boutiques and cafes whilst taking in the views! Verbier is known for its fabulous restaurants which cater for all tastes. Or perhaps a day at the local vineyards, learning about how the wine is made and sampling a glass or two?

There is plenty to explore with the children and adults alike, including: nature parks, themed trails, kids clubs, several adventure parks, horse-riding, rafting, canyoning and hydro-glisse. Mountain biking for all ages and abilities, climbing, tennis or take a lift to the top of the mountain if only to observe the views. Explore the local villages and their many shops, museums and art galleries. The opportunities are endless!

During the summer months Verbier hosts some fabulous festivals. In July alone there are several, including the Verbier Beach Volleyball tournament, which brings a beach-side atmosphere to the mountains. There’s also the Verbier Festival, which showcases some of the world’s top classical musicians, with concert events taking place all around the area. There’s even a 4x4 Salon featuring the latest in off-road vehicle design, including demonstrations and cross-country circuits. Concerts, recitals, street performances and jam sessions add a creative touch to the resort’s idyllic setting. Verbier Golf Pro-Am Schroders, Grand Concours Hippique (show jumping) and Grand Raid Cristalp – Grimentz (mountain biking) are other summer events not to be missed.

Golfing is very popular in Verbier. Courses include the Esserts course: 18 holes, Par 70 and driving-range. The course is built to an altitude of 1,600 metres and each hole has fantastic views over the surrounding mountain ranges. Moulins course: approach golf, 18 holes, Par 54 (beginners accepted). Severiano Ballesteros Course is arguably the finest golf course in the Alps! Matching the splendour of the over 4000m peaks facing it, this par 71 18-hole course hosts the annual Omega European Masters, one of the continent’s most prestigious tournaments. This challenging course is a one hour drive from Verbier, or why not charter a helicopter to take a tour of the glaciers on the way? Sion Golf Course is only 45 minutes away by car; this 18-hole course has a par of 70 and is surrounded by mountain peaks.
