Chamonix has been welcoming visitors and adventurers for over two and a half centuries and can be truly described as an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Chamonix is populated year round, in the winter it is a stunning resort offering extensive skiing, paragliding, ice and rock climbing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, dog sleighing and alpine walking (17 km of specially designed footpaths which venture deep into the winter alpine landscape). As the snow melts and spring arises, another paradise emerges, leaving just the snow-capped peaks, the Alps come alive with wild flowers, green pastures, scented pine woods and the bluest of skies.

Located just one hour from Geneva airport, this is a very accessible mountain resort with so much to offer all year round.

Chamonix is registered on the world heritage list; it is the origin of mountaineering and is internationally renowned for its exceptional environment. Sited at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest summit, the views from Chamonix are absolutely breath-taking. This is a vibrant alpine town with architectural heritage throughout its Priory, alpine farms, baroque churches, art deco buildings and place from the “Golden Era”. The Alpine Museum and Tarirraz Exhibition Centre are definitely worth a visit while the guided heritage tours are exhilarating. There is also a cosmopolitan atmosphere in this small town which is enchanting.

Mountain and glacier activities available in Chamonix in the summer are endless....from tackling a glacial ice-flow armed with crampons and ice-axe, to suspending yourself from a harness 100 metres above ground as you ascend a sheer rock face, to hurtling down the side of a mountain on a mountain bike, to running off the edge of a mountain with a wing attached to your back, plunging head-first into rock pools or taking on the rapids in a kayak, there's plenty of action and adventure to be had.

Chamonix also offers plenty of peaceful pursuits with some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. The town itself is a pedestrianised vibrant and bustling Alpine centre with a wide selection of attractive boutiques, sunny street cafes and tempting pastry shops along with 14 bars, 80 restaurants, 100 shops, and 7 nightclubs. The town even boasts its own casino, has had a recent opening of a Chanel outlet and a private members bar. The valley offers a vast gastronomic choice, from rustic mountain restaurants serving Savoyard specialities, to the chic of the Michelin starred Albert Premier, from international dishes to nouvelle cuisine, and each visitor will find something to suit their palette!

Chamonix boasts long hot summer days, with average daytime temperatures of 25-26°C May/June/Sept/Oct and 28-32°C July/August. The wide range of activities, suitable for young and old, includes:
