La Fontaine aux Tilleuls

Provence, France

La Fontaine aux Tilleuls Information

La Fontaine aux Tilleuls, a former lavender farm is an 18th century restored property which has retained its charm and authenticity, but added all modern conveniences for comfort and luxury. Five spacious bedrooms, each offering lovely views, are comfortable and tastefully decorated.

A large family room with entertainment area and cosy wood burning fireplace offers a perfect retreat for everyone to share. This room has French doors opening on to the west facing terrace and into the courtyard. The kitchen is a large vaulted room, with French doors opening out on the courtyard, and is well-conceived for large scale dining, with a LaCanche range cooker, and three-metre central island and a dining area. There is a second, more intimate dining room with fireplace directly adjacent.

The enclosed courtyard is a haven of peace and tranquillity with a majestic linden tree offering shade for long meals, while the elegant fountain beneath an Acacia tree splashes gently in the background. A second terrace beneath a lavish Wisteria plant provides another shady retreat from the Provençal sun.

The house is set around a south facing courtyard which captures the sun and warmth for al fresco dining. A westerly terrace offers vantage points to enjoy an evening aperitif whilst watching the sun set over the Luberon mountains.

Location

The village, perched on a hillside in the heart of the valley of the Petit Luberon is adorned by a historical castle and windmill, both offering exceptional views over the Calavon valley. Only a few kilometres outside the village is the hameau 'Lumières' named after the miraculous sightings of light and healing in the 17th century. It is still possible to visit the 17th century Chapel and sanctuary.

Light is certainly one aspect which continues to attract people from diverse backgrounds to this region. Enjoy stunning sunsets from your westerly terrace over the Luberon mountains. The 12 metre heated pool also gets sun from dusk till dawn, but has ample shade for moments of relaxation.

A perfect base to explore Provence and the Midi region: within one and a half hour's drive is the culturally-rich coastal port of Marseille and closer to home, the elegant Cours Mirabeau in Aix, and the famous Antiques market in Isle sur la Sorgue.
